Tasmania Police are treating the fire at the Campania Hotel in the early hours of this morning, which completely gutted the heritage building, as suspicious.
Tasmania Fire Service personnel, police forensic officers and CIB detectives conducted inquiries at Campania throughout the day.
``Police are treating the fire as suspicious and investigations will continue into the cause of the blaze,'' Acting Detective Inspector Craig Joel said.
``The quick action of local fire brigades prevented damage to surrounding buildings.''
The Tasmania Police command bus will be parked near the hotel tomorrow between midday and 2pm.
Police officers will be in attendance and any information about the fire this morning or the armed robbery last Friday night can be passed on.
Alternatively, anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
``It is hoped that the presence of the command bus might encourage anyone with information about the fire or armed robbery to come forward and speak to a police officer, or alternatively contact Crime Stoppers, anonymously if necessary,'' he said.
