LYONS is Tasmania's forgotten electorate, Liberal candidate Eric Hutchinson says.
Mr Hutchinson said the state's largest electorate was overlooked by the visiting leaders of both major parties.
Lyons is usually considered a safe Labor seat - Labor incumbent Dick Adams retained the seat with a comfortable 12.3 per cent margin in 2010 and almost 50 per cent of the primary vote.
And Mr Hutchinson said that margin disadvantaged residents, even suggesting that was why only $9 million of the $90 million in regional development funds flowing from the forestry deal were allocated to projects in Lyons.
"I think it's a reasonable conclusion that you could draw," Mr Hutchinson said.
"This has been, for many years now, a safe Labor seat, and so their side of politics tends to take it for granted.
"And it's true, within our party, that perhaps the attention for what is rightly due to what is really the engine room of Tasmania [is wanting]."
