The school's grade 3 and 5 pupils have been selected by the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority, the body that oversees NAPLAN, to take part in the online tests on August 19 and 20.

Twenty pupils from each of the grade 3 and 5 classes will take part in the reading and numeracy components of the test.

Principal Lee Craw said the actual tests would be similar to that which pupils sat in May, with the only significant difference that they would have to complete it using a computer online.

``Being part of the trial gives us the opportunity to provide feedback and give some comment on the way this could be rolled out to schools,'' Ms Craw said.

``If you've no idea of what to expect or take part in the trial, you don't have the opportunity to raise any concerns.''

Ms Craw said  the school had only six computers in each classroom, so they would have to work out the best way to go about the testing with the ACARA invigilator when they arrive.

She said the school had recently taken part in other online testing, so did not expect any issues to be raised by the pupils.

Department deputy secretary Liz Banks said 22 primary, high and combined schools in the state would participate in the ACARA research on online testing during the month.
