Ambulance Tasmania was called to Cressy Chaff Cutters, on Green Rises Road, after 4.30pm on Tuesday.
An ambulance crew took a man, 19, to the Launceston General Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said that the patient was in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit yesterday afternoon.
A Workplace Standards Tasmania officer visited the business yesterday and investigations are continuing.
Department of Justice spokesman Dale Webster said the man was injured in a seed mixing machine.
Mr Webster said he was unable to comment on the nature or seriousness of the man's injuries.
Authorities have sealed off the machine until investigations are complete.
Proactive Agricultural Safety and Support chairwoman Anne Taylor said she was unaware of the circumstances of the incident, but she was saddened to hear about what had happened and hoped the man had a speedy recovery.
Mrs Taylor said young workers, particularly men, were vulnerable and eager to please their employers.
"They want to do the right thing, but are also not always aware of the risks," she said.
"So it's really important for young people to be inducted very carefully when they are first employed and are told exactly what the dangers are and the consequences of not performing things correctly."
Cressy Chaff Cutters could not be reached for comment yesterday.
