TasWater chairman Miles Hampton said the majority of jobs would be lost in management and management support roles in order to achieve a projected $5 million saving over the next two financial years.

He said Ben Lomond Water, Cradle Mountain Water and Southern Water had a combined pool of 800 full-time equivalents, and it was hoped to  reduce that  to 750 to 770 full-time-equivalents.

The three regional companies had a chief executive each and 16 executive managers between them, but these roles have been replaced by a chief executive Michael Brewster and eight general managers.

Mr Hampton said general manager appointments would be made early next month.

``We expect that a majority of the current executives will apply for a role within the organisation but   clearly not all will get a role at that level,'' he said.

``Some might get a role further down in the organisation and  that may lead to some changes at lower levels in the organisation.

``We pretty well expect all of that will be finalised by the end of September.''

Mr Hampton  said the public was unlikely to see instant broad changes, other than a different banner on  bills.

 The organisation would slowly be rebranded with uniforms and vehicles replaced on a need basis.

Mr Hampton said the change involved formation of a new customer charter to which the public could submit feedback until July 22 before it was finalised and sent to the Tasmanian Economic Regulator for approval.
