"The carnivals carry a rich and proud history which spans more than 100 years," said sports promoter John Craven.
"We want the carnivals to be embraced so they can continue for another 100 years."
Craven, whose company Caribou was responsible for the resurrection of the Tour of Tasmania, said he was excited to be entrusted with rejuvenating the state's troubled series.
As revealed by The Examiner on Wednesday, Craven's involvement will see a lucrative criterium series introduced to complement existing carnivals at Latrobe, Devonport and Burnie.
Sports Carnivals Association of Tasmania president Mike Gunson said the involvement of Caribou came about as a direct result of the 2012 Colbert Report into the viability of the series.
"One of the main recommendations of the report was that a professional director be employed to promote the carnival series," he said.
"SCAT is extremely pleased to be working with an organisation with the outstanding reputation of Caribou, which has a long and distinguished record of promoting sporting events."
Craven hopes to inject new life into the carnivals concept by luring international cycling stars.
It is also planned that riders from the country's top domestic teams will take part, creating hot competition in both the criterium and track races.
Top international and Australian runners will also be sought to boost the athletics fields, while the programs for each of the four carnivals will receive an overhaul in a bid to provide spectators with an action-packed couple of hours at each venue.
Craven says the carnivals are an ideal family outing over the Christmas-New Year period.
"To be able to witness elite sportsmen and women, and the novelty of woodchopping, is an opportunity not to be missed," he said.
