Enduro structure set for final triathlon

THE Launceston Triathlon Club will hold its final triathlon of the season at Beauty Point on Sunday.

The event will incorporate an enduro structure, which sees participants swim 300 metres, cycle 10km, and run 2.5km, twice.

Competitors will be handicapped based on their performances throughout the 2012-13 season.

``This format allows for racing of a different kind, and provides all participants with an equal chance of crossing the line first,'' race organiser Casey Mainsbridge said.

``People who are not members are welcome to come along and participate in this event, with half price membership being available at the registration desk on race day.

`` A TryStars junior aquathlon will start at 9am, followed by a novice triathlon (300m swim, 10km cycle, 2.5km run) at 9.15am, with the enduro starting at 9.30am.''

Form male triathletes Dylan Hill, Marc Hardy, Will Jones, Harrison Musgrave, Jock Tate and Kier Crooks are expected to continue their good performances from this season, and will provide a good contest for the fastest race time.

Talented female athlete Kate Pedley will be hard to beat, but can expect a challenge from Sarah Ellis, and youngsters Millie Chapman and Alex Spillane.

``To add to the spectacle of the last event for the season, there will be a special prize for the most outrageous outfit that is worn during the enduro, so get dressed up and enjoy being active at the same time,'' Mainsbridge said.

Online entry is available for the novice and enduro events up until noon on Saturday with entry available on the day from 7.30am.

A barbecue for all participants will be held at the end of the event.
