Teachers catch up with past and present colleagues

Alf Crawford was a student, a teacher and principal at Launceston College.

He could yesterday be found celebrating the years he had spent with the school at the Launceston College reunion for past and present teachers.

Having flown from Queensland for the event, Mr Crawford was excited at the prospect of seeing his former colleagues for the first time in more than 14 years.

''It's always a pleasure,'' he said.

''You remember things about everyone.''

Present Launceston College English teacher Patricia Woods said the drama her English teacher and former Launceston High School principal K.J. Walker brought to the classroom had been inspiring.

''Well, I did get John Clark to NIDA,'' Mr Walker joked.

The reunion, organised by Frank Sernaggia, Liz Bennett and Robin Thorn, was held at the Tamar Yacht Club.

It ran as part of Launceston College's celebration week, marking 100 years of education at the institution.

The college will today host an open day from 11am to 2pm and will include guided tours.
