Grand final to be replayed after rain forces cancellation 

THE TCL A grade cricket grand final between Trevallyn and Beauty Point will have to be replayed on Saturday after rain forced the abandonment of the match at Trevallyn yesterday.

Beauty Point won the toss and batted first and was 7-143, off 33.3 overs, when the rain came and the match was officially called off at 3.30pm.

Trevallyn struck early with the ball, dismissing Beauty Point opener Scott Graham caught behind off Brett Martin for four, leaving it at 1-9.

Fellow opener Tyler Bain followed soon after, again caught behind off Adam Bourke for 3, and when Kyron Ebdon (5) and Brennan Cresswell were dismissed soon after, the Tamar Valley side was in trouble at 4-33.

Jason Savage and Anthony Taylor put on a fifth wicket partnership of 50 before Chris Jacobs claimed the key wicket of Savage for 16, leaving Beauty Point at 5-83.

Things only got worse when Taylor was given out lbw for 40 and Rob Eltringham followed straight after for 2, leaving it at a shaky 7-89.

Captain-coach Stuart Prewer and Vaughn Rose then steadied the innings with a partnership of 54 for the eighth wicket, Prewer finishing 29 not out and Rose 15 not out when the rain came.Josh Walker and Jacobs were the multiple wicket takers for Trevallyn with Walker claiming 2-31 and Jacobs 2-21.
