Rain stops Shield play

HEAVY rain has halted Tasmania's push for victory in its must-win Sheffield Shield clash with Victoria at Bellerive Oval.

The Tigers are 0-7 after bowling the Bushrangers out for 358 and collecting first innings points.

David Hussey was the last man out for 112, with paceman Evan Gulbis collecting 5-104, his maiden five wicket haul in first class cricket.

Tasmania needs outright points to have any chance of sneaking into the Sheffield Shield final, while a win for Victoria will ensure it hosts the decider.
