Bargains, clowns enough to put a smile on anyone's face

IF CLOWNS and retail bargains are your thing, then you are going to love this year's Crazy Day Sale.

The 17th annual event today starts at 9am with more than 30 Launceston businesses taking part in the sales extravaganza.

The Examiner promotions manager Karen Stallard said two lucky shoppers would win $1000 cash to spend in 30 minutes at three different stores.

The "Crazy Cash" draws will be held at noon and 2pm, either side of the costume parade in the Brisbane Street Mall at 12.30pm.

Red Herring manager Angela Peardon said her staff would be dressed up like clowns to match this year's theme.

"This will be one of our biggest ever sales with so much gear to get rid of at ridiculous prices," Mrs Peardon said.

"Crazy day is just fun - everyone gets involved and it is so, so busy and the punters get lots of bargains."

Mrs Stallard said everyone is encouraged to dress up and get into the spirit while chasing bargains.
