Unchanged squad for Tigers

TASMANIA has named an unchanged squad for its must-win Sheffield Shield encounter with Victoria, which starts tomorrow at Bellerive Oval.

Following their outright win against Queensland on the weekend, the Tigers have given themselves an opportunity to play in the Shield final if they can gain maximum points.

The final round of the competition sees the closest race for a finals spot in years with each state in the competition having the chance to make the final with the Tigers opponents Victoria currently holding top spot with 28 points, South Australia (26), Western Australia (26), Tasmania (24), Queensland (24) and New South Wales (23).

To make the final the Tigers need an outright win against Victoria and need New South Wales to defeat South Australia and Queensland to defeat Western Australia.

If successful against Victoria, the Tigers also have the potential to host the final with a superior quotient over the other states (1.372).

The match between Tasmania and Victoria is also the Scott Mason Memorial Match, in memory of former player Scott who passed away in 2005.

The Scott Mason Medal will be awarded to the player who best typifies the characteristics of team work, courage, & skill throughout the match.

TASMANIA:  George Bailey (c), Harry Allanby, Luke Butterworth, Mark Cosgrove, Alex Doolan, James Faulkner, Evan Gulbis, Ben Hilfenhaus, Tim Paine, Ricky Ponting, Jordan Silk, Jon Wells.
