Cheers, to good taste

IT IS all about the different tastes in Devonport today and the Spreyton Cider Company is offering five of them.

Today is the cider company's first time at the Devonport Taste the Harvest, but cider operations manager Damien Viney said its five ciders on offer were sure to impress.

``The five products do something for everyone,'' he said.

``They cover all the palates, from someone who likes it a bit sweeter, to something more authentic and traditional to something a bit left of field with our dark cider.''

The five ciders on tap at the company's portable pub in the producers marquee will be vintage, classic, bright, perry and dark, and people will be able to try before they buy.

``It'll be like a cellar-door experience in a tent,'' Mr Viney said.

The Spreyton Cider Company is one of about 60 stalls set to feature at today's event, which starts at 10.30am.

The event will also see MasterChef 's Ben Milbourne present cooking demonstrations in the producers marquee at 11am, 1pm and 5pm, and live entertainment all day.

And while the event is the first for the cider company, it hopes to do a lot more in the future.

``We've been pretty focused for the past three months making sure our cellar door is operating and working all the time, and have been gearing towards this event to be the showcase for us,'' Mr Viney said.

nts``This is probably our biggest way for getting into a bigger market-type scene.''
