Premier Lara Giddings has confirmed Cabinet rejected a request from the state's fire management agency for $25 million for fuel reduction burns.
Facing a barrage of questions from the State Opposition this morning, Ms Giddings told Parliament the proposal was considered in March 2011 and a "decision deferred".
In total, the Liberals asked six questions - their entire allotment in Question Time - on the issue.
Liberal Leader Will Hodgman used his final opportunity to question Ms Giddings' ability to govern, given the decision not to act on the proposal.
Ms Giddings accused the Opposition of politicising the bushfires that devastated Tasmania's south in January and repeatedly referred the Liberals to former Premier David Bartlett's response to the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission.
