The decline of Tasmania's housing industry continued in January, with official building approval figures released this morning showing a fall of 5.2 per cent in January.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the decline was the 10th straight fall following declines of 3.4 per cent in October, 4.6 per cent in November and 5.1 per cent in December.
Nationally, there was a 2.4 per cent fall in the number of homes approved in January in seasonally adjusted terms.
In trend terms, there was a 1.1 per cent increase across the country.
