Defending champ  puts knowledge to good use

Launceston golfer Tammy Hall leads the 2013 Northern women's golf championship after the first 27 holes were played at the Launceston Golf Club yesterday.

The defending champion used her home-course knowledge to advantage to card a total of 120.

She leads Launceston's Maree Coulson by two strokes on 122.

Victorian golfer Jacqui Baker-Stubbs was third on 123, with Launceston's Deidre Panton next on 129.

The championship finishes with another 27 holes today.

The leader in the Northern B grade championship was Longford's Susan Hayes, who fired 96 for the opening 18 holes.

In second place was Launceston's Judy McKendrick, on 98, with Riverside's Margaret Bond on 102.

Thirty-six golfers teed off yesterday in the championship and B grade   in perfect conditions.
