A 14-year-old boy has been injured after he fell about eight metres down a cliff at Lake Eugenana in the state's north-west near Devonport this afternoon.
About 1.15pm today, the Western Search and Rescue Team, Devonport police and paramedics were called to Lake Eugenana at the Lakeside Caravan Park at Melrose, to help a 14-year-old boy who had injured himself jumping into the lake from one of the steel cliffs.
According to police, the boy went to jump off a cliff at the south-western end but changed his mind at the last minute. However, police say he was unable to stop himself from falling.
Police and a wilderness paramedic abseiled down the cliff to assist the boy, while other officers launched a boat and attended from the water.
After medical treatment at the scene, the boy was placed on a stretcher and taken by boat to the shore where he was transferred to an ambulance.
The boy was in a stable condition and taken to hospital for further assessment.
