Munro a revelation: TIS coach

TASMANIAN Institute of Sport cycling coach Ron Bryan was full of praise for Ronin Munro after the Turners Beach teenager landed his second medal of the national junior track championships.

A day after collecting the bronze in the under-15 sprint, Munro again got the better of Victorian Godfrey Slattery to add a silver in the 500-metre time trial.

"He's been the revelation of the event," Bryan said.

"The way he sprinted to bronze on the first night was amazing and made a lot of people sit up and take notice.

"Technically, he's really good for his age, and to get silver and bronze in his first national championships with two races still to come is excellent. I'd love to see him get the full set."

Victorian Isaac Buckell, who had finished second in the sprint, went one better in the time trial to take the national title in 36.101 with Munro just 0.76 behind. Fellow Tasmanians Tom Galpin and Zack Gilmore finished 12th and 16th respectively.
