BIBLIOPHILES, elbows at the ready: this year's selection at the Library Book Fair is worth fighting for.
This Saturday from 9am at St Ailbe's Hall, Launceston, the 16th annual Library Book Fair will offer a selection of more than 6000 books, priced between 50 and $7.
Friends of the Library Launceston publicity officer Mike McCausland said the group hoped to raise $10,000 to put towards the Launceston and Ravenswood libraries.
``There'll be 100 people waiting outside before the doors open - it's always flat out for the first hour or two,'' Mr McCausland said.
``It has a real buzz about it.''
After a year of sorting, pricing and boxing books, Mr McCausland said there was a good choice of texts on specialised topics at significantly cheaper prices than those on the internet.
``It's a good chance to pick up a bargain,'' he said.
With support from the Riverside Lions Club and Launceston LINC, the 16th annual Library Book Fair will be open until 1pm.
