Tasmania's construction industry continues to improve with official figures showing activity has grown for the fourth consecutive quarter.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics construction work completed figures released today, the value of construction work stood at $584 million in trend terms for the December quarter - up 3.1 per cent from the September quarter.
"While it is important to recognise that the construction industry suffered a drop after the withdrawal of Commonwealth economic stimulus, our local construction activity is now growing faster than the national average," Finance Minister Scott Bacon said.
"We remain optimistic that we will see these figures continue to improve with a very solid pipeline of construction activity yet to come online.
"The Government is supporting jobs and opportunities by clearing the way for major project like Parliament Square, which will create 400 new jobs. "
