CONSTRUCTION on the $5 million Prospect Vale Park development will start in the next few months, with a tender for new light towers expected to be called for this weekend.
The three new light towers will be installed on training grounds two, three and four.
The successful tender will be put to the Meander Valley Council at its April meeting and, if approved, installation will start soon after.
The lights are expected to be completed by June 28.
Westside Junior Soccer Club president Michael Hancox said the lighting would be a great benefit to users.
"We have about 350 kids that train up there for our club at the moment ... and the lights are a bit inadequate... so any improvement would be good," Mr Hancox said.
"It's going to make the grounds safer for the kids and because there will be better facilities it could attract a few more people."
Meander Valley Mayor Craig Perkins said it was important the lights went up soon so all the grounds could be used during winter.
"The sooner we get them up, the better," Cr Perkins said.
Other clubs that use the grounds include the Launceston City Football Club, Southern Raiders Junior Soccer Club, Launceston Touch Football Association and the Prospect Hawks Junior Football Club.
The development was announced last August and also included the construction of 346 car parking spaces, three new entry points, an additional touch football ground and two more soccer fields.
The light towers are expected to cost around $280,000.
