Zunic's title after final round of 65

NEW South Wales golfer Jordan Zunic was crowned the 2013 Tasmania Open golf champion at the Country Club Tasmania course yesterday.

The 21-year-old carded rounds of 70, 69, 67 and 65 to finish at 13 under par for the tournament on 271.

Zunic, a member of the Bonnie Doon Golf Club, finished two strokes in front of Western Australia's Daniel Hoeve.

Hoeve, a Kwinana Golf Club member, carded 70, 65, 71 and 67 for his 11-under-par total of 273.

South Australia's Christopher Brown and Teremoana Beaucousin tied for third place on eight under par.

Kingston Beach Golf Club's Nathan Gatehouse was the leading Tasmanian in sixth place on one under.

Western Australian Tatiana Wijaya captured the 2013 Elvie Whitesides 72-hole stroke play championship.

The 16-year-old Cottesloe Golf Club member, won the championship with scores of 78, 74, 72 and 75, a total of 299.

Queensland's Ali Orchard finished second only three strokes behind Wijaya on 302.

Western Australia's Hayley Bettencourt catapulted into third place with a final round 72, finishing the event on 308.

Former Elvie Whitesides champion and Launceston Golf Club member Tammy Hall was the leading Tasmanian in ninth place.
