The recent Tasmanian Motorhome Rally at Inveresk attracted 250 RVs from around Australia.
This creates considerable economic and tourist benefit to Launceston. Hopefully, other councils will also become RV friendly so they too can benefit.
Most RVs are self contained (water, toilet and the like) and many prefer to exercise their choice to independently camp at beauty spots around this great state.
Many such spots are being closed by councils, perhaps to force the RV community to stay overnight in caravan parks.
These RVs come to Tassie for several months so this would add considerable cost to an already heavy burden (up to $3000) on the Spirit of Tasmania.
If we want to promote tourism here, we must encourage, not discourage, mainlanders to come over and allow them to use their freedom of choice as to where they spend their tourist dollar.
