A 41-year-old man will face court after being charged with stealing items from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
Police allege the former TMAG staff member later sold some of the items, donated by the late Henry Baldwin in 2008, on Ebay
In October detectives from Southern the Crime and Drug Investigation unit began looking into the alleged internal theft of objects from TMAG's Markree Collection.
Detectives charged the Lindisfarne man today and he is due to appear in Hobart Magistrate's Court next month.
The museum issued a statement saying it had assisted Tasmania Police with their investigation.
``TMAG takes the security of its collection extremely seriously and has detailed plans and procedures in place to ensure its care and safety,'' the statement said.
