New car sales in Tasmania jumped 1 per cent in January in trend terms, according to official figures released this morning.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics new motor vehicle sales figures, 1611 new cars were sold in Tasmania in January, compared with 1596 in December 2012.
In trend terms, 96,995 new cars were sold nationally - a rise of 0.1 per cent in January.
In seasonally adjusted figures, the national figure fell 2.4 per cent in January compared with December 2012.
