Sport and Recreation Minister Michelle O’Byrne will today announce a forum for Tasmanian sporting organisations to help them improve safeguards against doping.
Ms O’Byrne, who was this week briefed by the Australian Crime Commission about its investigation into doping, said Australia as a whole had to act to strengthen integrity in sport.
“The ACC report contained an alert that everyone involved in sport improve their safeguards against doping,'' she said.
“I want to bring together Tasmanian sporting organisations to brief them and hear their thoughts on how we can proactively tackle this issue.''
A date for the forum has not been decided.
