Cab charge report released

The Tasmanian Economic Regulator has released a draft report in to the setting of taxi fares.

The regulator is examining the setting and indexation of maximum fares, which are programmed into the taximeters of every taxi in Tasmania.

Following public consultation, a final report, containing a number of recommendations, will be presented to state government.

Meanwhile Attorney-General, Brian Wightman, is calling for submissions  on the review of the regulation of Tasmania's poppy industry.

Mr Wightman said growers will have the opportunity to attend public meetings at Oatlands, Longford, East Devonport and Rocky Cape next month.

He said the review was expected to be completed by the end of April.
