A Hobart police officer has been charged with one count of assault following an incident allegedly involving his wife in August last year.
Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said the Hobart constable will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
Mr Tilyard said the alleged incident was reported to police in November.
The constable was off-duty at the time and is suspended from duty on full pay.
