You can replay our live chat from today with the author of an essay that labelled Tasmania as a ``long-term underperformer'' - Professor Jonathan West.
Professor West, who released a $130,000 state government report on forestry peace last year, said that Tasmanians fell into one of two categories - the underclass, or the "comfortable, government-dependent middle class''.
``The reality is that Tasmania has bred a dominant social coalition that blocks most proposals to improve,'' West wrote.
``Problems and challenges are debated endlessly with no resolution...Ultimately Tasmania doesn't change because it's people don't really want to.''
The Grill provides an opportunity for readers to question Professor West on his essay.
