WHAT: Kookaburra Cup semi-final, George Town v University.
WHERE: Crothers Oval, George Town Sports Complex.
WHEN: 11am, Sunday.
GEORGE Town has high hopes of inflicting a major upset in Tasmanian cricket when it hosts University in a Kookaburra Cup semi-final on Sunday.
The club earned the right to host the match by beating South Launceston by 125 runs to win the Greater Northern Cup in January on the back of 77 runs from man-of-the-match Scott Semmens.
The day promises to be a big one for the Pooley family, with Bob the club president, wife Jenny organising the lunches, eldest son Rohan the coach and youngest son Marshall the captain.
Bob Pooley said the club was putting on a marquee and barbecue and would be keen to see plenty of support in the 50-over each one-day game.
``I think we've got a very tough assignment because University have a lot of quality players,'' he said.
``They have the likes of (Ben) Hilfenhaus, (Tim) Paine, (James) Faulkner, (Jason) Krejza and Rhett Lockyear on their books and although they won't all be playing, they are still a very formidable team.
``But we're very excited to have a home final and want to do well in it.''
South Launceston travels to Glenorchy in the other semi-final with the winners to play the final on March 3.
