The ways of Warne, part two: Pick your best 11

The second installment of Shane Warne's manifesto on Australian cricket has been released, calling for selectors to pick the best 11 for every game, rather than rotating players through the squad.

Warne also called for changes in the Twenty20 and one-day formats.

For Twenty20 cricket, he said bowlers should be allowed to bowl five, rather than four overs each. He also said the ground should be "as big as possible".

Warne said the laws in the one-day game had been changed too many times, and it was time to de-regulate it.

"No restrictions with the field, none, place the fielders anywhere you want, this will create so many options and the attacking captains and teams will win," he said.

"The only law should be that no bowler can bowl more than 10 overs."

Warne said he asked himself "is the Australian cricket family happy?"

"The answer is no," he said.

Warne said Cricket Australia's mission statement "sounds wonderful and great" but hasn't delivered.

He said the results at the end of the day, along with the future of the game, were what counted.

"When we were number 1 there weren't mission statements flying around, but we got the selection process right and the best 11 were selected for every game," he said.

"Example: Glenn McGrath didn't want to be rotated or rested, he wanted to play every game, and we all did.

"It's simple, select your best 11 for each form of the game, not the same 11 but your best available team at all times."

Warne released teams for all formats of the game.

"This is the sqad of players that I think can help us get back to Number 1 in the world," Warne said.

Warne said parts three and four of his manifesto would be released later in the week.

"Still lots to talk through, like grass roots cricket, state of spin bowling, cricket academy and domestic cricket," he said.
