THERE was the chance to throw a sponge in the face of your favourite Evandale footballer or even tackle him with specially designed dummies - all in the cause of bushfire relief yesterday.
The Evandale Football Club's family fun day at Morven Park raised almost $1200 for the Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfire Appeal through raffles, food and drink sales, face painting, a jumping castle and Auskick activities.
A particular hit was the chance to use padded dummies to tackle an opponent on the oval as part of the Auskick events.
Fun day organisers Emma Skinner and Kara Nankervis said the club was family oriented and many members knew families affected by last month's fires.
