FIVE people were hospitalised after a two vehicle crash at Antill Ponds last night.
Police were called out to the Midlands Highway crash, which involved two cars carrying trailers, shortly before 7pm.
According to police, the highway had to be closed for about an hour, with five people rescued from the vehicles and treated by paramedics on scene.
Police said the five patients were taken to Royal Hobart Hospital and Launceston General Hospital.
They are all in a stable condition.
Police reminded motorists to travel at speeds appropriate to conditions, including road works and wet roads.
``The importance of other factors such as towing trailers and driver experience cannot be understated,'' a police spokesman said.
