PUTTING together 830 book bags is no easy task, but the Riverside High School prefects have managed to do just that.
With only four days left of the summer holidays before the start of the 2013 school year, a group of seven prefects worked over two days to ensure that every subject book, folder and other stationery required by students was checked off.
Book and uniform collections are occurring around the state over the next few days as about 65,000 government, independent and Catholic students prepare for the new year and start of a four-term model.
Principal Christine Males said parents and students began arriving at the school early yesterday, and continued at a steady pace to the early afternoon.
``It's a massive undertaking for the prefects but they've done a great job,'' Ms Males said.
``This is one of the first leadership roles that the prefects take on, and they help with both the book and uniform sales.''
