Police seek $10m fire witnesses

Police investigating a $10 million fire that destroyed a number of Hobart businesses earlier this month are appealing for two potential witnesses to come forward.

On the morning of Saturday, January 19, a deliberately lit fire destroyed a number of businesses in the Hobart CBD, including Bridges Brothers, Centre Stationers and the Girl Guides offices.

According to police, two females walked through the Hobart Mall towards Liverpool Street and then up Elizabeth Street to Bathurst street about 2.50am that morning.

The two women were captured on surveillance cameras. Police hope the women will either recognise themselves or they will be identified by the footage.

Anyone with information on the identity of the two women is asked to contact the Hobart Criminal Investigation Branch on 6230 2611 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, and quote number 459135.
