Hooper hops in for night of laughs

FRESH Comedy will deliver its first laughs for 2013 tomorrow night with the help of Claire Hooper.

Hooper is known for her appearances on Channel Ten's Good News Week as well as for her work on mainland radio.

She has also made several other TV and live comedy appearances and is a published author.

Fresh Comedy organiser and host David Bakker said Hooper would be a welcome addition to the Fresh Comedy line-up.

"She will join a long list of fantastic interstate comedians who have headlined Fresh Comedy over the last 12 months," Bakker said.

"The list includes Hannah Gadsby, Greg Fleet, Felicity Ward, Josh Earl, and The Bedroom Philosopher, among others.

"Claire will perform her uniquely energetic, quizzical, and captivating brand of comedy at Fresh.

"She'll also be supported by some of Tassie's most exciting up-and-coming comedians, some from Launceston and others up from Hobart.

"Fresh Comedy is always a relaxed, friendly night, helped by Fresh's gorgeous retro vibe and awesome staff.

"It's a very intimate room, which gives the audience a rare chance to share a cosy evening with a first-class comedian.

"The comedy performed ranges from bold and poignant to silly and ludicrous, but it's always intelligent, and open- minded audiences get the most out of the show."

Bakker said those hoping to get a seat should get there "nice and early."

Joining Hooper will be Kevin O'Flaherty, Michael Burgess and Stewart Bell, while Ackbar's Snackbar will also provide "post-comedy music" until late.

Fresh Comedy will take place at Fresh On Charles on Friday, January 25, at 178 Charles Street, Launceston, from 8.30pm. Tickets are $15 on the door.
