Faulkner in Australian T20 squad

Former Launceston all-rounder James Faulkner will get another opportunity to represent his country after today being named in Australia's Twenty20 squad to take on Sri Lanka in two matches long this weekend.

Faulkner has earnt his call-up after a strong Big Bash League campaign with the Melbourne Stars, where he was able to take 11 wickets from nine matches at an average of 21.36 and an economy rate of 7.34.

The 22-year-old played one T20 International for his country last summer against India, bowling two wicketless overs and not getting a bat.

George Bailey will again captain the team, with Hobart Hurricanes quick Ben Laughlin, the competition's leading wicket-taker with 14 from eight matches at an average of 15.35, set to return to the international scene.

George Town spinner Xavier Doherty is also in the squad.

Australia will play Sri Lanka at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on Australia Day and at the MCG two days later
