A BUNCH of crafty people are helping bushfire victims by making cuddle pillows and cuddle blankets.
A group called Cosgrove Crafty People, based at the Cosgrove Park aged- care centre at South Launceston, are making the items for pupils from Dunalley Primary School.
On Saturday, they were hard at work on their project.
The Dunalley school, south of Hobart, was destroyed in this month's fires.
Cosgrove Crafty People co-ordinator Robin Walker said the group met regularly for craft projects and wanted to help with the bushfire recovery.
When the Dunalley school requested pillows and blankets, the group, plus some extra volunteers, swung into action, she said.
The group set up a production line, with volunteers aged from seven to more than 80 cutting, ironing and sewing material.
They expect to load a car with 21 blankets and 24 pillows for delivery in a fortnight.
Mrs Walker said the group was working with the Anglican parish of Quamby, which was raising money at a market to pay for material.
She said the group would also make quilts to go in the rebuilt homes of fire victims.
