Siblings pop up to help appeal along

SIBLINGS Saffron, Ayrton and Isaac Fry thought nothing of giving up precious holiday time to help Tasmania's bushfire victims yesterday.

The East Launceston Primary School pupils were set up at Prospect Vale Marketplace for their second day, selling popcorn for a gold coin donation to raise funds for the Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfire Appeal.

Saffron, 11, said she thought of the idea after watching news of the recovery effort on television and Facebook.

"I saw that people were donating food and stuff and thought it would be a really nice thing to do ... and everyone loves popcorn and it's easy to make," Saffron said.

"We raised a lot of money yesterday - over $200 - and it was only our first day."

The siblings will be back selling popcorn at Prospect Vale Marketplace on Thursday, January 24, and Friday, January 25, from noon to 2pm.
