COLES managing director Ian McLeod has remained coy about Prospect's newest supermarket carrying his brand's name.
Developer Ross Harrison is building the supermarket on Westbury Road, but has not revealed who the owner will be.
Visiting the new Mowbray Coles yesterday, Mr McLeod was asked about speculation that it would be another Coles.
"If there's good news coming from Prospect, then we'd like to be part of it, so you can read into that what you will," he said.
"But no decisions have been made as far as we're concerned, so I can neither confirm nor deny. I think that's the standard answer at the moment."
The supermarket development was approved by the Meander Valley Council just before Christmas with three submissions opposing it.
However, none of the objectors appealed against the council's decision - objections are allowed within two weeks of the decision.
When the proposal first surfaced, concerns were raised about the viability of a third supermarket in Prospect.
