THE Tasmanian under-18 men's team overcame tough match-ups on day two of the National Indoor Hockey Championships at Launceston's Silverdome yesterday.
In its first match, Tasmania came from two goals down to defeat ACT 4-2.
ACT was two-up in the first 12 minutes of the match, but Jordan Dart struck back for Tasmania in the 14th minute with a penalty stroke.
A minute later, Tasmania was level through Keenan Jackson.
In the second half Tasmania stepped up the pressure with goals from Evan Davies and Josh Beltz to secure the points.
In its second match, Tasmania took on a strong Victorian side and had to come from behind once again.
Victoria held the upper hand for the first half of the match and took a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Victoria extended its lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Zach Meaden.
Tasmania took heart from its earlier comeback and hit four late goals.
Dart scored a well-set field goal and Beltz equalised with a minute left.
Almost immediately Davies scored off a penalty stroke and with three seconds left Beltz scored his second to make it 4-2.
RESULTS
Men: Queensland d Victoria 4-1, Tasmania d ACT 4-2, New South Wales dw Western Australia 4-4, Tasmania d Victoria 4-2.
Women: Victoria dw South Australia 2-2, Western Australia d Tas 4-2, New South Wales d Queensland 3-2, New South Wales d ACT 6-0.
