A LAUNCESTON business is doing its part to help children affected by Tasmania's bushfires.
Cycology in York Street is collecting second-hand bikes to distribute to children in Dunalley and other fire-hit areas.
Manager Garry Shing said bicycles were often overlooked in the wake of a disaster, but they brought much-needed happiness to children and helped ease the strain on their parents.
"We're hearing that a lot of people have lost all their Christmas presents, and it can take months for an insurance claim to go through, so we just want to give them something to do in the interim," Mr Shing said.
"All the other stuff, the staples and essentials, are of course the first things people go to donate, but this is just an easy way for us to do something to help out."
Mr Shing said the store had received more than 30 bikes in two days, with Peter Lees Real Estate and TasRail offering transport options for delivery next week.
He said anyone wanting to donate a bike could drop it off at Cycology during business hours.
