Moderate breezes greeted the 14 teams from New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania on day four of the competition yesterday.
Bancroft and crew member Lachlan Imeneo, from Victoria, extended their lead to have five wins from six races by the end of yesterday.
The team to take the win from Bancroft was former Tasmanian Nick Darlow and his crew member Mike McDonald, of Victoria, who won the second race of the day.
Fellow competitor and also the leading Tasmanians, Adrian Beswick and Clare Cromarty, are in fifth place.
Mr Beswick said yesterday it had been a challenging day of racing and going into the second last day of competition he expected there to be some tough races.
''There will be lots of thrills and spills,'' he said.
''There's definitely strong competition amongst everyone out there and the top five positions are still hotly contested.''
Racing finishes on January 5.
