Mowbray's Kath Maloney was surprised earlier this week when a Christmas present from her son and daughter-in-law in Surfers Paradise arrived in the mail - after it was sent 12 months ago.
Mrs Maloney's son, Greg, was the one to notice the present was a late arrival when the parcel, sent on December 14, 2011, arrived on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.
``The postman came to the door and said `have you been waiting a few months for a delivery '. . . then I looked at it and realised it was a year old,'' he said.
Mrs Maloney said the package included several tops, makeup, some pearls and most quirky of all was a 2012 calendar.
``When it didn't come last year with all of the confusion I thought someone my have pinched it from the front (door) . . . and then they sent another one (present),'' Mrs Maloney said.
``You just wouldn't believe it because it was all intact, it hadn't be opened at all, but it's just not good enough really - 12 months is a bit of a joke.
``But I'm not complaining I got two presents this year.''
Australia Post did not return The Examiner 's phone call yesterday, but Mrs Maloney said she understood they were busy this time of year and held no grudges against the carrier.
At least she got 11 days' use out of her new 2012 calendar!
