Police are hunting a man who tried to accost a female jogger in Launceston's CBD today.

About 7.45am, the 25-year-old female jogger was assaulted by a man on Paterson Street, near the Paterson Street car park and The Examiner Newspaper.
The woman screamed and the man ran off, and then scaled a high wall leading to a lane way near Target. He re-emerged, ran off towards Wellington Street.
He is described as aged in his 20's, with olive skin, athletic build, shaved short dark hair and was wearing blue jeans, white shoes, black sunglasses and a light blue sleeveless shirt or singlet.
He was last seen on foot, running towards Wellington St and heading North.
The female did not suffer any injuries as a result of the assault but appeared very distressed.
She told bystanders that the man had followed her through the city. She was wearing iPod music ear plugs at the time of the assault.
Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to the matter or anyone who saw a person matching this description walking through the Launceston CBD around the time of the incident to contact the Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch on 03 6336 3701 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
