CONGRATULATIONS to Ouse farmer Bernard Brain for winning this year's National Farmer of the Year Award for diversification. It's just the tonic Tasmania needs right now. With an ever-increasing number of Tasmanian farms falling into foreign ownership, it's great to see what locals can achieve through innovation and hard work. From his father's original 300-hectare, rabbit-infested tussock country in 1947 to now a 1000-hectare property producing sheep, cattle, grapes, cabbage seed, poppies and more - how good is that. Well done to Mr Brain and we wish him and those at his Rotherwood property even further success.
