On almost a kilometre of track at Inveresk, Launceston Tramway Museum Society volunteers are driving the tram wearing reproduction uniforms from 1911, the year when trams were introduced.
The experience has been further enhanced by a soundtrack that plays in the tram from the 1950s, the decade when trams stopped.
Society president John Perkins said the restored No. 29 tram (the city's last tram) began operating at Inveresk on Saturday.
It will run from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, until the end of April.
Mr Perkins said the volunteers carefully researched the original uniforms and had the coats and hats made by Australian and overseas suppliers.
