The opposition is calling on the state government to rule out protecting more forests.
Liberal leader Will Hodgman said the crowd that booed Premier Lara Giddings and Deputy Premier Bryan Green at Saturday's pro-mining rally in Burnie reflected the feelings of most Tasmanians.
``They were told in no uncertain terms by over 3000 North-West Coast residents that the Labor-Green policy of lock-it-up and shut-it-down is killing the state,'' Mr Hodgman said.
``The Premier should accept the message from Saturday's rally that enough is enough .?th?.?th?. and rule out locking up one more stick or one more rock in order to appease the Greens.''
Ms Giddings defended her government's record of supporting mining and criticised Mr Hodgman's decision to attend the Huon Show rather than the union-organised rally, where Liberal MPs were not permitted to speak.
``I was up in Burnie fighting for jobs, fighting to ensure that the Commonwealth does not put a blanket listing over the Arthur-Pieman (area), otherwise known as the Tarkine,'' she said.
``Where was the Opposition Leader? He was nowhere to be seen.''
Mr Green accused Braddon Liberal MHA Adam Brooks of peddling mistruths.
``If you put in writing that I have refused to rule out further restrictions on mining in the so-called Tarkine, then you are being dishonest,'' he said.
After Mr Brooks interrupted Mr Green's response by calling a point of order, which descended into another argument, Speaker Michael Polley ejected him for 24 hours _ the maximum punishment. In response to a decision not to allow Liberal MPs to speak at the rally, Australian Workers Union national secretary Paul Howes took to Twitter to say: ``(I'm) just not in the game of providing a platform to political parties that want to destroy unions #idiot''.
