The border collie, along with his three-year-old brother Frost, will compete in the Tasmanian sheepdog championships at Campbell Town on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Mr Jamieson, of Legana, said he was hoping for a good result, with nine-year-old Charlie coming off a few wins this year.
He said the competition, held at the War Memorial Oval, would see dogs attempt to herd sheep into a small pen.
``Every competitor gets three new sheep and you have to try to figure out what the sheep are like and how to handle them,'' Mr Jamieson said.
``You need talent but there's also an element of luck to it - if you get a bad sheep, it's a lot more difficult.''
Mr Jamieson said the competition would be tough, as Tasmania had some of the highest-quality dogs in the country.
``Two of the four dogs on the Australian test team sent to compete in New Zealand are from Tasmania, and they'll be competing this weekend,'' he said.
