Tony Abbott is setting a frenetic pace as he sprints to election day - even pledging to speak on graveyard radio shifts after midnight.
The Opposition Leader woke up in the dark to jog around Brisbane at 4.30am before rushing to his first event at a fruit and produce market before 6am as the sun rose.
Mr Abbott has defended his whirlwind tour of Queensland, saying it is "sensible" for a politician to meet as many swinging voters as possible in the final days of the race. He is expected to visit more marginal seats in western Sydney before polling day.
By 8am, Mr Abbott had finished his exercise, met a dozen produce wholesalers, held a live TV interview and started a radio chat.
By 5pm, he will have added at least three more events and a plane trip to that schedule.
Mr Abbott told supporters in the Brisbane Fruit and Produce Market, at Rocklea, that he was confident and exhilarated.
"It's been a tough race but we're finishing strongly," he said.
When a retailer at the markets said he had risen at 2am, Mr Abbott promised to think of him at that time tomorrow while he was still up campaigning.
Mr Abbott high-fived grocers and accepted shouted well-wishes.
"I hope you kick her arse," one man yelled.
Shop owner, Robbie Mann, told Mr Abbott the country needed him as its leader. "We have got to change the habit and vote for Tony Abbott," he said.
Mr Abbott told a radio station this morning senior politicians had to be tough.
"You've got to have mental and physical stamina," he said.
Travelling journalists have been advised Mr Abbott will drop into pubs, late night functions and speak to voters wherever they may be.
He also will do graveyard radio from midnight until 3am tomorrow.
